"Transisalania Dominum vernaclue Over-Yssel", Merian, Matthaus
Period: 1660 (circa)
Color: Hand Color
12.4 x 10 inches
31.5 x 25.4 cm
This small map of the Dutch Provinces of Overijssel and Drenthe is based on Blaeu's map of nearly the same title. It provides a graphic view of the vast regions of marshy lands in the region. Tiny coats of arms, the royal arms and a title cartouche adorn the map.
The impression is a bit uneven and the map is printed on thin paper, as was common with German maps of this period.
