Ptolemaic map of northeastern Africa in Munster's bold style with rope-like mountain ranges. A huge oasis is labeled Silphiophere regio. Two text blocks describe the region according to the ancients. In the Mediterranean a large sea monster is seen devouring a man.


Condition: B

Light stain and repairs of centerfold, two chips in top margin. Map has been recently colored in 16th century style, but with bleed through on verso.
