Copper engraved map illustrating the dangerous channel discovered by Magellan in 1520. The map features renderings of the native inhabitants taken from the illustrations to Weert’s voyage and an interesting depiction of a penguin and a giant snail. Strapwork title cartouche at top and map key at bottom center. Published by Matthaus Merian. Accompanied by photocopies of the title page and frontispiece.
