Nice group of tinted lithographs from early explorations in Montana. Lot includes: "Fort Owen - Flathead Village", by John Mix Stanley, of the fort near Stevensville that was built in 1851 by Maj. John Owen; "Cantonment Stevens, looking Westward", by Gustav Sohon, also near Stevensville on the Bitterroot River; "Crossing the Bitter Root", by J.M. Stanley; and "Big Blackfoot Valley", by Gustav Sohon. Accompanied by a photocopy of the Senate report.
Tiny bit of light foxing on one plate, but overall very good.
