A lovely map of the Duchy located at the confluence of the Lot and Garonne rivers. The map was drawn by Pierre du Vall and dedicated to Marie de Vignerot de Pontcourlay, Marquise of Combalet and Duchesse d'Aiguillon. She was the niece of Cardinal Richelieu and became one of the greatest Catholic philanthropists of 17th century France. When she was created Duchesse d' Aiguillon she gave twenty-two thousand livres to found a mission for instructing the poor of the duchy which is beautifully engraved on this map. The map is embellished with two cartouches and a distance scale, all adorned with groups of putti.
Lovely original color. Some foxing in margins and a tiny split on bottom fold, just entering the border.
