Richly embellished map of Morocco with a large inset titled "Congi Rigni Christiani, in Africa, Nova Descriptio" based on Pigafetta's map of the Congo made in 1591. The main map is Ortelius' own compilation based on the work of Gastaldi and Livio Sanuto. Includes the Canary Islands and Madeira. The magnificent cartouche features several figures, a strapwork border surrounds the inset and the sea is filled with ships and a large sea monster. Latin text on verso with page #128 indicating a published date of 1612.

Condition: B

Original color with some oxidation of green and blue. Professionally stabilized with Japanese tissue backing including a couple of small areas of paper loss.
