Volume I - Asia, 1838, 350 pp., plus 68 plates; Volume II - Africa, 1839, 359 pp., plus 86 plates; Volume III - America, 1841, 350 pp., plus 85 plates; Volume IV - Europe, 1842, 619 pp., plus index and 155 plates. The plates are extraordinary and hand colored with watercolor and gouache. They are a major tour-de-force of places, people and costumes from around the world. Hardbound in board covered with brown marbled paper.
