A superb vellum leaf from the Hours of the Virgin - Sext. The recto is elaborately illuminated with acanthus leaves, flowers and fruit. All the little leaves are filled in with gold leaf and the colors are bright red, blue, green and pink. The text of both sides is boldly written in black ink with several illuminated capitals and line fillers, all in red, blue and white ink and burnished gold leaf. The text is from Psalms 122 and 123 in the Vulgata translation (123 and 124 in the King James Version).
