A large and very detailed lithographed map showing the extent of the U.S. State Surveys. Details include township subdivisions, railroads, watersheds, and mining activities. A legend color codes the location of gold, silver, copper, quicksilver, iron, tin, oil wells etc., providing an excellent perspective of the immense wealth of the nation. Similar to Wheat (TM) 1168, this being published two years later.
Backed with Japanese tissue. A little toning along some folds and pale color.
