The style of this beautifully illuminated leaf is reminiscent of the Master of Hannibal, who trained in Paris and in the early 15th century moved to Flanders, where this leaf was probably made. The Latin text is from the Matins, the Hours of the Virgin: "Regnabit dominus in ceculare deus tuus syon in generacione et generacionem" (Our Lord shall reign forever, thy Lord, O Zion, in generation and generations). The recto has three decorative line fillers in red, burnished gold and blue. The verso is very elaborate with two different sizes of script, three large gold leaf initials and an abundance of gold leaf flagstaffs, acanthus leaves, leaflets and flowers in red, blue and green.
