Richly embellished map of Morocco with a large inset titled "Congi Rigni Christiani, in Africa, Nova Descriptio" based on Pigafetta's map of the Congo made in 1591. The main map is Ortelius' own compilation based on the work of Gastaldi and Livio Sanuto. Includes the Canary islands and Madera. The magnificent cartouche features several figures, the inset is surrounded by a strapwork border and the sea is filled with ships and a large sea monster. Latin text on verso.
