A fine map engraved by Johannes Bussemacher based on Gerard Mercator's map of the North Pole. The large sea at the pole is surrounded of four islands, intersected by four rivers that drain the oceans of the world. Inset of the Faeroe Island, Shetland Isles, and the mythical island of Frisslant are included, also based on Mercator.

A very fine impression with beautiful old color. Couple of tiny tears in margins with old repairs., else fine.
