Fine copper engraved map including all of continental Asia, Japan, Philippines and Indonesia as well as much of western Africa. A huge region of present day Russia is noted as "Parts Yet Undiscovered". The sea between Korea and Japan is unnamed. Four cartouches decorate the map including one that dedicates the map to William Duke of Gloucester who was a pupil of Well's at Oxford. A couple of small printer's creases, some tiny worm holes and a small puncture on fold (with no loss of image). The fine, dark impression more than compensate for these minor defects.
