Set of fine steel engravings from the first edition of this work, issued by subscription in several parts with paper wrappers. This set includes the following plates: (Part 2) Tarsus, Village of Eden; Antioch from the West; Junction of a Tributary Stream with the Orontes, (Part 8) Part of the Walls of Antioch, over a Ravine; Lebanon; Coast of Asia Minor near Anamour; Cafes in Damascus, a Branch of the Barrada flowing between, (Part 13) Approach to Caipha, Bay of Acre; Ruins of Soli, or Pompeiopolis, Asia Minor; Camp of Ibrahim Pasha, near Adan; Syra, a Greek Island, (Part 16) The Ladder of Tyrus - a Pass on the Sea Coast, near Tyre; Encampment at Ras-el-Ain, near Balbec; Castelorizo, near Rhodes, (Part 18) Approach to Antioch from Aleppo, Zarapha; the Ancient Sarepta, A City of Sidon; Village of Brumhanna, in Mt. Lebanon; Sepulchre at Seleucia. There is some faint foxing throughout, mostly in the margins. Overall good to very good condition.
