Splendid map of eastern & central Africa. The map depicts the legendary Christian Kingdom of Prester John. Based on an earlier map by Blaeu, there is a fair amount of detail on the eastern coast, reflecting Colonial trading interests. Below the equator there are the two large lakes where the Nile originates. The map is decorated with a title cartouche surrounded by native figures and a decorative scale of miles. Fine crisp impression with a couple of minor marginal tears which have been professionally repaired.
