Map Collectors' Circle contains what is still the broadest reaching series of cartographic bibliographies. The series was initiated, edited, and published by the most highly regarded map expert of the 20th Century, Mr. Ronald V. Tooley.
This volume by Coolie Verner describes the charts in Captain Greenville Collins's groundbreaking coastal atlas. Prior to the publication of Collins's Coasting Pilot in 1693, English mariners relied on inaccurate charts copied from the Dutch charts. The journal covers 58 charts plus their French copies, with brief descriptions, information on the various states, and other identifying features. 47 pages plus 9 b&w plates. Soft paper covers.
