This apparently rare printed oath of loyalty was signed by a Filipino POW, who was captured during Japanese occupation in World War II. Addressed "To His Excellence The Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Forces," the document compels the undersigned to renounce all hostile actions against Japan and to pledge cooperation with occupying authorities. The text outlines a series of strict conditions, including a promise not to assist guerrilla forces, to refrain from aiding Japan’s enemies, and to present oneself when summoned by the Japanese Army. It further threatens severe consequences, extending punishment to the signer’s family, should any terms be violated. Manuscript entries at bottom include the applicant’s signature and address, guarantor's signature and address, and dated December 23, 1943. The same document printed in Japanese appears on verso.

These types of documents were employed by Japanese forces in the Philippines following their early-war victories in 1941–42, as they sought to suppress resistance and stabilize control over the islands. Despite these efforts, guerrilla activity remained widespread throughout the occupation. We found no past sales records for this document.
