This inventive engraving was engraved by Johann Mueller, and is an allegorical representation of the people, customs, and manners of the Italians. At right is a large building with a library representing politics and medicine, a large room representing justice, and a church. At bottom left are images relating to the arts, architecture, sculpture and music for which Italy is known. In the background are the ships of the explorers Marco Polo and Christopher Columbus.
