This interesting chart of the world presented on Mercator's projection details the discoveries made during Captain Cook's expeditions. The tracks of his three voyages are outlined on the map in differing dotted and dashed lines, which are identified in a key at bottom right. Alaska is shown in a rudimentary shape and there is a large, unnamed lake in the Pacific Northwest of the United States that is nearly equal in size to Lake Superior. The newly discovered Bass Strait is shown separating Australia and Tasmania. Engraved by J. C. Russell, Jr. and published by Wilkie & Robinson and J. Mawman.
