This pictorial "poster" map by Karig and Leiss was issued in the Fall 1946 issue of School Savings Journal. Printed on thin newspaper, the map features illustrations of American innovations and events ranging from stereotypical cotton picking in the South to the creation of the “Indian [Cherokee] Syllabary” by Sequoyah in 1821 and a nuclear explosion in the Southwest. The verso contains instructions to “Lift out the map in the next two pages and use it as a classroom poster.” Accompanied by the complete 12-page issue of the journal promoting savings bonds. We found no past sales records for this issue and no institutional examples on OCLC.

There is creasing in the corners of the sheet (difficult to see in the image as the scanner presses these flat), with the bottom left crease crossing 1.25" into the image. Several short edge tears that just enter the border at left and right have been closed on verso with archival tape.
