This first AAA Year Book contains extensive details on the history of the club from its creation in 1902, its touring and racing activities, and proposals for legislation. This particular example is the personal copy of Amos G. Batchelder, who is listed on the Executive Committee on page 1. He became the long-term Chairman of the Board during its formative years before dying in a plane crash in 1921. Batchelder was instrumental in promoting the first legislation providing federal support for highways in 1916, and he received a gold pen from President Wilson at the signing of the legislation.
