This well-preserved leaflet was produced by the Psychological Warfare Branch of the U.S. Army. It was dropped by U.S. forces on "Jap troops with inferior equipment." The illustration shows a destroyed building with discarded equipment in the foreground, including a Type 38 rifle leaning against a blown-out wall.

The back of the leaflet contains Japanese text that describes the situation including:

"As you know, the Type 38 rifle you are using succeeded the Murata rifle and first appeared on the battlefront as a new weapon for use in the then occurring Russ-Japanese war. But that was 40 years ago."

"If you had fought with new weapons like the Americans, perhaps tragedies like Leyte might have been avoided."

"However, much spiritual strength you may have, how can you expect to tackle a 500-KG bomb from a Consolidated bomber with a Type 38 rifle?"
