Designed and produced by Glasgow-based MacLehose Designers + Printers for the East Africa Tourist Travel Association, this delightful tourist map is filled with images of the animals one might see while on safari in East Africa. Many attractions are located, including Lake Victoria, Mount Kilimanjaro, Selous Game Sanctuary, and the ruins of Gedi. Travel information, such as roads and railroad lines, are also shown. Game reserves and national park are colored yellow and bordered with a heavy green line. This later edition removes references to the failed British Groundnut Scheme which appeared on the 1949 edition. Its design differs significantly from Dennis Owen Mathews's work on the earlier editions, with a less whimsical spin on the region. (There is no sea monster in Lake Victoria here, for instance.) The 1962 edition also adds aerodromes, marked with little red planes. Self-folding into photographic covers (5.4 x 8.7"), with text and photographs on verso.
