This gorgeous chromolithograph of the bay of Nagasaki, Japan was published in Berlin by R. Wagner. The chromolithograph is based on a watercolor by German artist Eduard Hildebrandt (1818-68). Hildebrandt took a trip around the world from 1860 to 1862 and chronicled his adventures with a series of stunning watercolors. Wagner published a collection of these as chromolithographs in 1864. The originals were exhibited a few years later at London's Crystal Palace. Mounted on a backing board, as issued, with publisher's imprint on verso.
