This map of Japan follows the type established by D'Anville with the disproportionately large Korean Peninsula. Each province or Kori is delineated and named, and only the southern tip of Hokkaido is shown. The large title cartouche features three Japanese gods of fortune, one holding a carp. This map was first published by George Louis Le Rouge in Atlas Nouveau Portatif in 1748, which was re-issued by the family Crepy in 1767 with Le Rouge's name replaced by Crepy on each of the maps.

A nice impression with contemporary outline color and later color in the cartouche, on sheet with light soiling, faint offsetting, and light toning and foxing along the edges of the sheet.
