This attractive and detailed map is centered on the fortified city of Belgrade at the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. It presents the events at the Siege of Belgrade (1717) during the Ottoman–Venetian War (1714-18). Turkish positions are shown protecting the city to the south, while Austrian positions are noted to the north (primarily in the inset). Numerous warring ships are shown fiercely battling in the Danube. An inset at top right shows the "March of the Imperial Army from Futak to Belgrade" with an Austrian warship at top left. A lovely view of Belgrade fills the bottom quarter of the sheet. The Austrians ultimately won the war and took control of this region for the next 20 years.
