This lovely copper engraved carte-a-figures map covers the heart of the present-day Czech Republic, the ancient kingdom of Bohemia. Seventeen engraved vignettes parade at top and sides, presenting views of Prague, the Emperor’s Court, and principal cities of Czalsa, Comethau, Polm, Schlani & Laun. The side borders illustrate five different levels of Bohemian society from King and Queen to countryman and countrywoman, all in fabulous costume. This is an early edition with the imprint of George Humble in Popshead Alley in the title cartouche, published between 1627-32. English text on verso.
