This pocket map of Paris is divided into 20 arrondissements, which are numbered with Roman numerals and listed at right. This tourist map for "foreigners" lists each street and depicts important buildings in three dimensions, such as the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Hôtel des Invalides, among others. This map was published a decade before the Eiffel Tower was built. At top left is a list of the "portes" (city gates) in the fortified wall surrounding the city. Created by Lallemand, printed by Brehier and published by Bernardin Bechet.
