This large map was designed by Stanislaw Gac and Wieslaw Szota and published by the National Defense Publishing House (Wydawnictwo Ministerstwa Obrony Narodowej) for use in schools. It commemorates Poland’s significant contributions to Allied victory in World War II. The main map provides an overview of the conflict using contemporary borders, marking lines of advance, operational zones, and major theaters of combat. Five inset maps expand on key themes: Poland’s 1939 Defensive War, Polish forces in France, Polish participation in the European Resistance, partisan operations, and the Polish Navy and Air Force. A text panel at bottom right summarizes the major wartime actions of the Polish Army, from the initial German invasion through foreign campaigns and the eventual liberation of Poland, with particular emphasis on the Polish Armed Forces formed in the Soviet Union.

While celebratory in tone, the map also reflects the immense national sacrifice endured during the war. Approximately six million Polish citizens — nearly 20% of the prewar population — perished, many in the Holocaust. Major cities including Warsaw, Poznan, and Bialystok suffered devastating destruction.

Accompanied by its original folder.
