This scarce and splashy pictorial map of Manhattan by Paul Savitt was published in True, "the Man's Magazine." A legend identifies 77 sites of interest for visitors, several of which are then illustrated on the map in Savitt's fine graphic style. Sightseers can catch a ballgame at Yankee Stadium, take in a show on Broadway (Oklahoma and Harvey are among the shows pictorially represented here), watch a fight at Madison Square Garden, or check out the artists in Greenwich Village. The Statue of Liberty looms large at the bottom of the map, with a big welcome mat at her base. A compass rose is cleverly incorporated in a pocket watch design. Savitt (1924-2010) was a prolific painter and graphic artist based in the city for most of his long life. An illustrated pin-up appears on verso.
