This is an early edition of this fun pictorial map highlighting the state's history, issued for Sun Oil Company (Sunoco). The city and vicinity is detailed in a large inset at top left, while the rest of the map covers upstate. Throughout the landscape, historical events are located with charming little illustrations, including Henry Hudson sailing his namesake river, the purchase of Manhattan, Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga Springs, the invention of baseball in Cooperstown, and much more. There are also illustrations of architecture, recreation, universities, and the state's natural beauty, with an emphasis on waterfalls. The map is enclosed by a scroll border with descriptions of notable locations along the top and bottom.
