This chart details the passage into Charlotte Harbor between Lacosta and Gasparilla islands. It locates the Light Tower, Beacon and Quarantine Station on the tip of Gasparilla Island and the proposed 24-foot channel to facilitate the shipment of a recently discovered phosphate deposit. There is no evidence of the residential community of Boca Grande that would be established around 1905 and quickly become a premier tourist destination, especially for fishing, with the opening of the Hotel Boca Grande (1911) and The Gasparilla Inn (1913).
