The top of the recto is dedicated to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad with several illustrations, while the bottom half touts the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and features a small map (6.1 x 4.8") showing its line extending from Chicago to Buffalo. The verso follows a similar format and promotes the "City of Troy" steamship service between New York and Troy, and a section on the Central Vermont Railroad with map (6.4 x 8.9"). Dimensions are for the size of the entire sheet. While the publication is unknown, the Map of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern R'y was issued by National Railway Publishing Company and two of the engravings were produced by Van der Cook Company in Chicago.
