These two volumes together provide extensive and detailed first-hand communications on the Rogue River Indian Wars in Oregon and the Yakama and Puget Sound Wars in Washington. Volume 1 features documents from the perspective of the Interior Department and Commissioner of Indian Affairs. Volume 2 offers the views of the War Department on the same matters. The two agencies blamed each other for the conflicts and disagreed on how to bring peace to the region. 895 pages (vol 1), 894 pages (vol 2). Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt titles on the spines.
