These two volumes together provide extensive and detailed first-hand communications on the Rogue River Indian Wars in Oregon and the Yakama and Puget Sound Wars in Washington. Volume 1 features documents from the perspective of the Interior Department and Commissioner of Indian Affairs. Volume 2 offers the views of the War Department on the same matters.
