This is the complete bound volume of 26 issues of the Niles’ Weekly Register from September 1835 to March 1836. It contains many issues with documentation of the early stages of the Texas Revolution, including the following highlights:
Page 21: Santa Anna contemplates a war with Texians and calls them “vagabonds and refugees from justice.”
Page 68: Reports of the growing dissatisfaction of settlers and speculation that “thousands of the hardy sons of the west will cross the boundary to join their former citizens.”
Page 70: Report of naval battle in which Thompson is defeated.
Page 100: Report that a meeting in Columbia is planned to declare Texians “independent of Mexico.”
Pages 143-45: A series of articles on the impending war, including Houston’s letter with a call to arms.
Page 169: Rumors the war has begun.
Page 188: Reports volunteers are leaving to fight in Texas.

Contents are mostly clean and bright with an occasional spot of foxing. Endpapers are toned. Bookplate for "The Historical Society of Pennsylvania" is on the front pastedown. Front hinge is starting and the binding is heavily worn.
