This vellum indenture serves as testament to the transferal of ownership of a house and garden to Edward Preston of Whitburn in the County of Durham, as designated by the County Palatine of Durham. The property had previously been in the possession of George Forster, who had inherited it from his uncle, William Forster. However, as George Forster died without a will, the property was reassigned to Edward Preston. Signed on April 30, 1789 by John Griffith, Deputy Clerk of the Halmot Court. The indenture includes a blue tax stamp.
