This handsome miniature map is based on Hondius' folio map of the same title. It shows the West African coast from Senegal to Cape Lopez on the Gulf of Guinea just below the equator. The island of Sao Tome is shown in detail in the small inset bottom left. The map was engraved by Direk Cornelissen Swardt and is nearly identical to the one he engraved for Cloppenburgh's edition of the Mercator Atlas Minor except the moiré pattern in the sea around the cartouches has been eliminated. 294 - Teatro Belgico is overprinted in right border.
