This spectacular and uncommon print captures the excitement of a town examining the Moon through a massive telescope. Hanging above the scene is a prominent Moon, enlarged as if seen through the telescope's lens. The Moon as depicted here is based on Hevelius, perhaps via the plagiarized (and much replicated) 1671 Moon map by Cherubin d'Orleans. Engraved by Jan Goeree and published in his father's volume on church history.
