This remarkable map presents the theater of the Russo-Japanese War, which was fought between Russia and Japan over territorial claims in Manchuria and Korea. This separately issued sheet centers on a map of Japan, Korea and Manchuria and illustrates the locations and movement of troops and naval ships. Above and below the map are portraits of the key Russian and Japanese leaders, centered on Czar Nicolas II and Emperor Mutsuhito. Vignettes flanking the map depict the types of naval ships used by each side and the differences between their military units. Columns of text at bottom give details on the economy, politics, and military of the key players, as well as information on the neutral parties (France, England, Germany, Italy, Holland, and the United States). Engraved and printed by Charaire and published by Librairie Universelle, a French publishing company based in Paris.

Issued folding, now flattened and fully backed with archival tissue to repair some separations and holes along the folds, with small loss of image (primarily below the portrait of Mutsuhito), as well as several chips and tears along the edges of the sheet. There is light toning, minor soiling, and a few creases in the top corners of the sheet.
