Charming small map of the Russian Empire in Eastern Europe. It covers the region from Scandinavia and Poland to the Ural Mountains. It has nicely detailed pictorial topography, including forests, towns, and mountains. The map is embellished with two strapwork cartouches. The map originally appeared in the Mercator/Hondius Atlas Minor and was used here by Purchas with the additional title above the map, "Hondius his Map of Russia." On a sheet of English text measuring 8.3 x 13.4".
