This delightful bird's-eye plan of the Latvian city of Riga is a reissue of Jansson's plan published in De Wit's Townbook. It was later adapted into a smaller format by Merian. The plan foregrounds a cluster of ships in the Daugava. There is excellent detail of the fortfications. The city's coat of arms appears at top left. A compass rose orients north to the top left. Second state, with the addition of the names of the river and some of the bastions. This example does not include De Wit's imprint.
