This clever pictorial world map was created to be folded origami-style into a cube-shaped globe. It was created by Eddy Ryssack, who is known for early animation of the Smurfs, and Michel Matagne, whose signatures appear in Antarctica. The map features simple outlines of the continents, and is filled with cartoonish imagery in lieu of any place names. The people and animals depicted are molded after stereotypical prototypes with a tongue-in-cheek humor. Instructions on how to fold the map are included. Full sheet measures 22.0 x 14.8". This map was published as a supplement to Le Journal de Spirou, a weekly French/Belgian comic magazine that was first issued in 1938 and continues publication today. Gaston is the title character to the popular comic strip series created in 1957 by the Belgian cartoonist André Franquin for Spirou.
