Issued as an advertisement for the Occidental Hotel, this scarce plan spans Manhattan from 90th Street south to the Battery, with excellent detail of the city's streets. Central Park, officially completed the year the map was published, is shown with features such as the Mall, the Ramble, and the Old Reservoir. Adjacent parts of Jersey City, Brooklyn, and Long Island are shown with transit routes delineated. The Occidental Hotel's location at the corner of Broome and Bowery is highlighted in blue with two hands pointing to it. The hotel is pictured in a vignette at top left advertising its central location, recent renovations, and room prices (single rooms ranging from 50 cents to $1; family rooms $2-3 per day).
