This lovely chromolithograph depicts the first resort hotel that was built on Martha's Vineyard. The simple structure exemplified the middle-class nature of the island's community, although grand hotels soon followed as the resort destination grew. Drawn by Charles Wesley Field and printed by Forbes of Boston.
