This lot is complete with 31 colorful and large soil maps from the 3rd Report of the Field Operations of the Bureau of Soils, published under the direction of Milton Whitney. Of particular interest in this set are maps of Cobb County (near Atlanta), GA., Boise, ID., and Ventura, CA. Each of the maps has a legend identifying the various soil profiles which are overlaid on base maps provided by the Geological Survey. In addition to the soil types, the maps depict roads, railroads, cities and towns, county boundaries and topography via contour lines. The full list of maps include:

The maps are very good to near fine with attractive bright coloring and some occasional light toning and/or color offsetting. Each of the maps has an old library stamp on verso for the "Boyce Thompson Institute For Plant Research" based in Yonkers, NY which is visible on recto. The top edge of the case is missing and one of the two string ties is detached, but the case still holds the maps adequately.
