Written by Erl H. Ellis, this is an essential reference work for the collector or researcher of historical Colorado maps. The author notes in the foreword that the book was intended "to give the general reader a little assistance in understanding the meanings and functions of some of the lines that appear on maps of Colorado. Rather arbitrarily I have selected for discussion mostly those lines bounding the State and its counties, but some other kinds of lines are included." He further notes that this book "is no complete catalogue of all maps of Colorado that have been published, although a large number of nineteenth century published maps are discussed." Oblong folio, 256 pages with numerous figures and plates. Published by the Jende-Hagan Book Corporation. This edition was limited to 400 numbered and signed copies of which this is number 190. Hardbound in gray and blue cloth with silver title on spine.
