The volume is profusely illustrated with 63 plates, including 27 in full color. The reports of the Microscopist and Pomologist feature some particularly attractive plates including black pepper berry, mustard seed, allspice, cinnamon, apples, pears, plums, and more. The report on vegetable pathology includes the folding Map Showing the Distribution and Severity of Potato Rot in the United States in 1885 (25.2 x 15.9"). Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt title on the spine.

Text and plates are very good with a hint of pleasant toning throughout. Binding has light wear with bumped corners and a chip on the bottom of the back cover and lower spine.
