This scarce and decorative map covers the Duchy of Mantua, with an emphasis on the region's role in the War of the Spanish Succession. The map features several fortified towns and cities, including Mantua, Cremona, Parma, and Modena, and excellent detail of the duchy's watershed. The garlanded cartouche at top right includes a key to eight locations on the map related to the 1702 Siege of Mantua. At bottom left is a dramatic vignette showing a battalion on the march. Another vignette in the bottom right corner features a dedication to Charles VI, Holy Roman Emperor. The map is further decorated with a compass rose.

A nice impression with contemporary outline color in the map and later color in the decorative elements. There is light soiling, much of it confined to the blank margins, and a few small spots.
