This rare and unusual treasure map extends from southern Florida to the Greater Antilles, including the Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. It is filled with text describing various hidden treasures where numerous X's mark the spot. A few of the treasures featured on this map include (near Silver Shoals) a "Plata Flota of 16 Spanish galleons wrecked in a hurricane in 1643. Fleet carried over $25,000,000 in gold, silver and precious jewels" and (Port Royal) "Famous pirate town destroyed in 1692 by earthquake with fortunes in gold and sliver booty buried in the debris." Copious illustrations supplement the text including images of pirates, sailing ships, and a decorative compass rose. Issued “Compliments of your Sinclair Dealer” (Sinclair Oil Corporation) at lower left. We found no past sales records for this map or institutional examples in OCLC.
