A. Houston's “Adventure” Map - Official Map of Tours In and Around Beautiful Houston, by Houston Chamber of Commerce, dated 1959, printed color (24.1x 18.1"). This pictorial map is color-coded to show 7 different tours in and around Houston including the "Residential Browse," "Arts to Zoom Romp," and "Freewaying to Galveston." Includes an inset of downtown and directions to reader to "start all tours from City Hall." The map is flanked by photographic illustrations and there is an inset of Galveston at bottom. Additional text, illustrations, and four more tours are located on verso. Self-folding into pictorial wrappers (4.1 x 9.2"). Condition: Issued folding on a bright sheet with several tiny splits at the fold junctions. There is a small faint dampstain along the lower left vertical fold and minor wear along the folds. (B+)

B. Ashburn's Houston City Map, by J. Foster Ashburn, dated 1953, black & white (24.4 x 18.5"). This unusual black & white example of Ashburn's Houston features a highly detailed street map extending to include Jacinto City, Pasadena, South Houston, Bellaire, and Shady Villa. Decorated by a title block featuring oil derricks. The verso includes a detailed street index and promotional text and photos for Bekins Van & Storage Co. Self-folding into pictorial wrappers with an illustration of the Sam Houston Monument on the front wrapper. OCLC notes no institutional examples of a 1953 Ashburn Houston map. Condition: Issued folding on a clean bright sheet. (A)
